Mondays and Fridays

I realize I've been a little lax in "naming" my characters with what I call their "fighting names", but for the cover it seemed appropriate. Some of my characters don't use fighting names, they just use their own names, like Zona and even Nick's fighting name is, technically, just his middle name, Ajax. He's named for his grandfather, a grounder hero on Atlas awhile back. But, these are super-heroes, and fighting names are part of the mythology, so the characters will adopt them as they move into the role.

I was playing around with Sketchup again, recently and decided to do something really, really old-school. I based this on a model I saw on the Fantastic Plastic web site, which is, itself a slightly inaccurate version of the filming model of the DY-100 Botany Bay from the original series Star Trek episode "Space Seed". This is Khan's sleeper ship. I just eyeballed it from photos on the site, so any faults are my own. I may do a re-imagined version of this thing in the future, just for fun. I always liked the submarine profile, but the octagonal cross-section is just too "wood shop" for me. I wonder if the original model didn't begin it's life as a table leg or somesuch.

Dave Van Domelen (dvandom) says: I initially tried to make Collapsar with the City of Heroes costume generator, but it didn't work out at ALL, so I shifted to Celia. The off-the-shoulder look isn't available, neither is the crossed belt of her cast page pic or the belt shown on the cover of this issue, but I figured she changes belts every so often and picked one that was close to the crossed one. :) http://www.dvandom.com/CoX/celiastarwind.JPG I haven't made her as a playable character, but I saved the costume in case I change my mind about that.
Joe Singleton (singleton) says: You know, I'm thinking of doing a costume for Collapsar, but it still won't be a smartskin(tm) suit. I'm thinking of something along the lines of a what a Regency period adventurer might wear. Now, I just need to figure out what that would be.
Dave Van Domelen (dvandom) says: Tsk, don't they teach "Famous Last Words" courses at Ad Astra?
