The Results of Hot Glue Sueding
Elliott is strung tight, because when we were stringing him my sister agreed that we would prefer for Elliott to be able to sit and stand without effort, rather than have him do back-flips on the carpet. So he's very stable when he stands, as he's not so loose that a joint will slip. But since he's tightly strung and his joints are very smooth, he poses pretty damn awful. Like... really, really awful. He can't do subtle arm movements since his arms snap into either the locked position or the straight-out position. Same goes for his legs. He can't lean down because his legs will slip out of the hip joint, causing him to tumble. It's pretty pathetic, really. So we hot-glue sueded him.

AWESOME.

Elliott stands very quickly, so I can just plunk him down and walk away. There's really no danger of falling. He used to fall more when his elastic was tighter.

He can hold his arms up and they won't fall.

He can't bend his arms to ninety degree angles. That's the farthest they go.

Can't touch his face.

This is the highest he can hold his arms up in front of him.

He can't touch his butt, but he can touch his hips.

He can sit. I've heard of some dolls who can't sit. D,:

But he'll lean back if I don't push him forward...

Like this.

Legs bent. They can't be half-up or anything. They're either bent like that, or straight.

One leg up, straight out.

Both of them up, straight out.

His legs are strung a little uneven, so he can only cross his angles in one direction.

Crossing his leg means popping his joint out of the socket.

Sorry about the twisted foot. He's better at crossing with that leg.

Kind of gross-looking without clothes on... but he can do this when you pop the joint out.

Aw man, blurry. Anyways... he can kneel, but not actually sit on his haunches unless I twist his foot and set the heel of it into the middle of his butt.

You can force him into this pose, which is what one of Ty's friends does whenever she gets to hold Elliott.

One leg up. He needs to have his hand against something to do this.

Fold over.

Streeetch. His arms are only bending slightly because they're stopped by his big head.

He can hold his legs up.

Half-bent, only one of them stays up all the way.

More joint popping.

The only way he can bend down.

The magic! It is gone!

He can stand with his legs together.

This is the farthest his torso joint will let him move to the left.

It moves a little better to the right. I could force it to go farther, like I can do with any of his joints, it's just that there's no friction to hold it there, so it just slides back (sometimes violently so).

This is as far as he can bend forward. He can't stand like this alone because it's too heavy, so I had to set his hand on my speaker for some support.

Farthest he can bend back...
AND THEN WE SUEDED HIM WITH HOT-GLUE! It took about twenty minutes and a bunch of tries. I got burned not from the glue, but from the glue gun's nozzle poking me in the arm. Ow.

Ooh what's this? Is this some subtle movement you couldn't do before? His arm is forward just a little bit and is sliiiightly bent. The other one is behind him a little. Right foot forward, left foot back and slightly bent. AMAZING! Also, sorry about his face. I wasn't paying attention to his face at the moment.

And he's leaning back, too!

You can see the "MOST AMAZING POSES" thread in the back-- which is what persuaded my sister to hot-glue suede him. Anyways... Elliott. Leaning forward. Left-leg bent very softly, right leg tilted, arms are a little back, and his torso joint is bent back while his bottom piece is downwards.

You can see is better here. He is CURVACIOUS.

Leg bendiness.

Whoooa he can hold his arms out like that now and they won't flop down. D,:

This made me really happy.

TOUCH YOUR FACE.

When before his arm was too heavy for the loose joint to hold it... it now stays!

Whoop whoop. More leg twisting, torso tilt, and all this good stuff and natural movement. He looks so fluid.

THIS POSE. GAH. So much awesome. His movements look so humanly sincere now.

It also makes him look curvacious.

And a slightly different version where he's sitting up straighter.

Sitting, tilting, arms up. D,: ♥ ♥ ♥ He almost looks like he just flopped down to sit and crossed his legs messily.

Other way!

Pants keep his leg joint from popping out of the hip socket all the way, so he can do more poses. Half-way up!

I'm not even sure how to describe this other than "AWESOME" and "D-D-D-D-D-DRAMA."

Oooh bending forward and touching his face.

And he's doing it on a chair!

Arms wrapped around chair, one leg on the chair and the other on the ground. Usually he would just... fall off.

D,: One leg up, the other down. And his arms around the one that's up. So cool!

He still needs a bath. Check out those gross hands.
I'm going to bathe Elliott now. ... Yeah. :D This is cool.
