Does Not Apply

Strange, but a lot of my friends suspect that we (everyone else and I) are not "real." I'm pretty sure it means "pretending to be friends" and not "doesn't exist." In one case, a friend revealed his suspicions while I was attempting to comfort him.

It made me wonder if I didn't apply, or something.

Hello! I'm right here! I'm your friend, and I'm trying to help you. Does that not count? Do I not count?

It's really annoying to realize that the problem is not you, but your friend. Your pal is the one who doesn't think of you as a friend-- not the other way around.
