It Makes Me Angry

Monday
So Feisty

I really do mean wha tI say. I'm a pretty straight-forward person most of the time. Truly, the only times when I'm not straight-forward is during these situations where people will refuse all help, so I say the opposite of what I mean to so they'll get pissed off at me-- which almost always leads to them realizing how stupid they are being.

It usually happens when they're threatening suicide (I take it seriously, but after the third time in one month it just loses its impact and seems attention-whore-y) and they call me up to try to get a reaction out of me. "Oh, alright. Well, you better not fuck it up because that'll end in pain for later." But that's a story for another day.

Why won't you trust what I say? There was no hidden message! When I looked at your art, I thought it was "cool" and I told you. But you think that I was just lying or some shit like that. Would you have been happier if I said "Oh man, this sucks like a black hole. Burn it. Burn all of it." Maybe you would've felt better because it would just confirm your opinion on all artists! God damn.

Another thing: art can still be enjoyable even if the skill level is low. Just because you haven't mastered anatomy and shading doesn't mean your picture can't be a happy feeling for all. Also, bring your low self-esteem elsewhere. I don't think you're a bad artist at all! Don't push your opinions on me.

I'm bothered by the people who do this because they're also the type who only show their art to people who are obviously below them when it comes to skil or just don't have art that is as shiny. They're fishing for compliments-- they don't want critiques or anything even if they ask for it! That's why they're so reluctant to show it to people who are "better," (it's so relative that I barely know what it means) it's because those people will be more likely to give them critique and something productive rather than butter them up with coos that only make a baby smile.

And you know those artists you speak of who only show are mean to you because your art sucks? They're YOU, just at a different level. They're doing the exact same thing: seeking out artists that haven't reached their abilities so they can get a bunch of compliments and possibly beat out some competition. That's what you're doing to others. You don't hate people like me, you have yourself. Screwy, huh? Now give me your damn sketchbook so I can look at it, bitch! There's almost always something there that's worth noting, and I'll most probably find something I like about your art and actually enjoy it. Stop being a wuss, already.

Happy New Years. (This strip was late because I was playing video games. Sorry about that.)
