First page of "The Muse and I", the story behind Nikki and her androgynous elf muse. Y'know, there's something to be said about the girl/guy-ness of the muse, and the fact that he came out of the closet, to relate to my own (and the current dreadlocked Nikki's) bisexuality, which was only recently realized. I was selectively homophobic in high school ... I had no problem if someone else was gay, but there was no way in hell I would ever have believed it of myself. I think I was aware of the metaphors here even then, but dismissed them. Oh snap.
