 Hi! Welcome to Bare Manors.
In early December 2008, the editor of H&E (a monthly UK naturatist magazine) approached me to see if I'd be interested in doing a 1/4 page cartoon for their letters page on a regular basis. Although I don't consider single panel cartoons to be my forte (I think one needs to be especially funny to make them work) I still decided to give it a go!
Since it was for a UK magazine I decided not to use characters from my Australian based The Bare Pit comic series (even though it would be a great publicity boost). I thought it would be fun to try out a slightly different British approach and thus came up with Bare Manors as a working title. It probably won't contain regular characters, just random nudists most of whom won't have names. I'm hoping, over time, to develop something unique and a little eccentric.
I couldn't exactly put 'thebarepit.com' under the banner of something called Bare Manors so I decided to add yet another domain name to my 'portfolio' - baremanors.com. By agreement with H&E though I won't show the latest cartoon until a few months after print publication. This update was first published in the January 2009 issue (see cover above).
