Oliver Katz works on board the Dawn with his sister, Minerva (Min) Katz, who is the assitant medical technician aboard. They are the eldest two of seven children, a number not unusal among their race, the Felid.

Oliver is usually happy go-lucky, but possesses a very strong protective streak when it comes to his younger sister Min. He loves music and playing rock guitar, but gets few opportunities to perform.
