For the next few weeks, I'm presenting strips that exist in my "Unused" folder. I think this one was a bit too strange and the Metro nixed it, or maybe I never submitted it. It was done as a present for Francois Ayroles, the great French author and Oubapian who created a terrific series of wordless comics, much better than this one. Here, I was trying to use his vernacular, but still stay with my own framework. Charming, a bit. I present this one first as a celebration of nature and beauty as I also flying to SUNNY and BEAUTIFUL Gainesville Florida tomorrow, to stay the month of August.

I never got around to running this one, thinking it might be too "confrontational." On top of that, I never liked trying to be the guy who lampoons commercial culture. I did it when I felt the urge, and then other times I felt like I was supposed to feel the urge. This might have been one of those times. I finally got Fristoe's hair right, though.

This one too I didn't get around to running. Towards the end of my run at Metro, I was increasingly squeamish about what kind of hostilities I would try to push through... I think the cartooning (as opposed to the writing or the drawing, both of which I generally like in my own strips) is good on this one. I think that on only about 10% of these things, if that.

The Metro didn't let me run this one back in 06. I'm concerned about the current presidential race to dig it out from under the dust and let it see light. It's a good series, maybe not great, but funny enough. The main idea came from Leela, who just said to me, you should do a strip where Karl Rove is a grub. She was right!

Continuing unused strips about Karl Rove as a slug.

Here's a silly one I did a year or two ago, never ran.

Here's the second ever Money Warrior strip. They didn't want to run this because it was too similar to Jim Cramer. Huh?

Here's the third ever Money Warrior strip. Of course these are way out of date, but perhaps showing them gives you an idea of the lunacy we existed in before the "credit crisis." (Though to be fair, it's less a stock problem and more a loaning money problem.)

Here's the fourth ever Money Warrior strip. A silly one.

Here's the fifth ever Money Warrior strip. Go to TheMoneyWarrior.com for more.

Here's the last series I was working on, a Monsanto-themed series.

Continuing the unused Hutch strips. Just a few more before we end it. I was certainly searching for respectability in these later strips, but am charmed by this bizarre one.

What the hell was I thinking with Oswald's eyes there?

I finally managed to get the "frooster" or CHICKEN FROG onto the stage, but alas, this is the second to last strip...

This will be the final upload for some time. There is no Dana only Zuul. Ali's House starts May 3.
