Rain is my first work of any size. It's a graphic novelette that I self published as my b.f.a. senior capstone in graphic design.
It sounds funny, but I hadn't read Rain since it was published in 2004. The fear of seeing old work- of sharing old work- runs deep in many creators. When a project is finished I run to the next one in order to purge myself from sins previously committed. A mantra: I'll do better in the next story.
I was amazed, in scanning Rain for you to read, how much I had missed Rosie and her family. They were waiting for me, reminding me that it's less important to be technically perfect than it is to tell a real story. I'm thankful to them.
There are things that I would have done differently now, but in it's awkwardness, it tells the story that I wanted to tell. So it's with a strange sort of pride that I present this, my oldest child, to you.
Thank you for reading me.
(This online edition is scanned directly from the original printed graphic novel. My apologies for the page bleed through.)
Here is a lovely review from Greg at iComics.com.
