I've been producing Rob Hanes Adventures under my WCG Comics imprint since 1991.
The all-ages series follows the adventures of a modern-day troubleshooter and soldier of fortune who travels the globe on assignment under the auspices of worldwide Justice International. The action-variety series features international intrigue, exotic locales, humor, and beautiful women in every issue.
My goal with Rob Hanes Adventures has been to recapture for modern-day readers the spirit of action, fun, and immediacy that characterized classic adventure comics like Milton Caniff's Terry and the Pirates and Will Eisner's Spirit. Other influences include Roy Crane's Wash Tubbs and Captain Easy and Buz Sawyer, and Noel Sickles' Scorchy Smith. The series also has been described as a "grown-up Jonny Quest," and been compared to Tintin, James Bond, and Indiana Jones. My art also has been compared to master comic-strip storytellers like Milton Caniff and Alex Toth, and received positive reviews and coverage in the Comic Buyer's Guide, Wizard, Back Issue, and indy.
For my work on the series, I have received a prestigious Xeric Foundation grant award and been nominated for the Russ Manning Award for Most Promising Newcomer, which is presented in conjunction with the Will Eisner Comic Industry Awards. I'm a member of the Southern California-based Cartoon Arts Professional Society (CAPS).
Born and raised in New York City, I now live and work in Southern California with my wife and our two beautiful children.
